The Prineville-Crook County Chamber of Commerce hosted its first annual golf tournament to raise money for the community and the Wildland Firefighter Foundation.

The event, held Saturday, May 17 at Meadow Lakes Golf Course was designed as a fun event with a variety of special attractions throughout the competition. The Crook County Booster Club flocked a hole with flamingos to raise money, and the event also featured a ball wash station, a “hit it and win it” hole and the “hole of fortune.”

Of the money raised, 20% of the proceeds were donated to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, which benefits injured and fallen firefighters and their families with everything from financial help to grief and trauma counseling. It also provides support if firefighters have a financial need like if they had a house fire. A total of 17 teams participated and the Chamber raised more than $2000 to donate to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation.

Tournament winners were The Hole Hunters, comprised of Gavin Romanick, Jordan Say, Devin Reece and Jeremy Thompson. The runner-up team was Lei’d & Confused, featuring Cully Stafford, Dayton Stafford, Gavin Stafford and Chad Forrester. Taking third was the Mid Oregon Credit Union team, The Maui Mulligans, comprise of Natalie Spry, Ashley Vlaskamp, Thomas Stanfield and Jacob Mayhill.

Winner of Longest Drive was Rhonda Burgo. KP was Tyler Palfrey. Highest score “worst score” went to Tropical Tax Titans, comprised of Lindsey Rodgers, Rory Rodgers, Jessica Barnes and Bryce Barnes.

First place players each won a Black Stone on the Go, second place players won Bluetooth waterproof speakers, and third place players won ear buds. The Longest drive and KP won gift certificates to the Meadow Lakes Pro Shop, the Worst Score won beverage bags, an American flag koozie and golden toilet trophies. The Best Dressed award went to Bigfoot Equipment Rentals (also the title sponsor), for their matching Bigfoot Hawaiian shirts, and Best Decorated Cart was awarded to the Mid Oregon Personnel Wacky Wave Recruiters team.

Bigfoot Equipment was the title sponsor for the event and associate sponsors were SMAF, Wild Ride Brewing, Mid Oregon Credit Union and Grocery Outlet, Corporate sponsors included East Cascade Contracting and Rosendin. The grand prize of four Blackstone on the Go was donated in part by Phil’s Ace Hardware.
